| 1. Cook raisins in water for 5 minutes. |

| 2. Cream sugar and margarine. |

| 3. Add egg and beat well. |

| 4. Stir in vanilla, flour, soda, and the raisins & water. |
 |
| 5. Roll out on a lightly floured surface. Cut out shapes using 5 cm (2 in) cookie cutters. Note: Dough will be soft. |

| 6. Cook on griddle 350° for about 2 minutes or until light brown. |
 |
| 7. Turn to cook the other side with a spatula. When both sides of cookie are done, remove from griddle. |
 |
| Makes about 3 dozen 5 cm (2 in) cookies. Takes about 30 minutes to complete. |
