I got to see Enchanted on Monday night at a promotional preview, thanks to my former roommates, Jenny and Nell, who unfortunately didn’t make it into the movie. :-( So I was all alone. With the 300 or so mostly under 12 females. I think there were about 15 males in the whole theater. But I thought it was a lovely movie so when Sue wanted to see it tonight, I was more than happy to go with her. There’s something about all that peppy optimism--it kinda gets under your skin in some way. And the music is fantastic. I kinda don’t think I’ll ever get it out of my head. And that’s okay. There’s also something about being a Disney princess. No grown up little girl can ever stop wanting it for herself, I guess. That Amy Adams is one super-duper lucky lady!
So happy World Toilet Day! And happy Thanksgiving! What wonderful ways to celebrate both! Loren and I hosted dinner for anyone who wanted to come. We had a turkey breast (crock potted with fresh herbs and onions), stuffing (made by Loren; stale bread supplied by me), cranberry sauce (made by me; I went a little crazy and added a mango and a handful of raspberries but it was delicious), bread (made by my Zojirushi), butternut squash with wild rice stuffing (made by Loren), roasted sweet potatoes (made by Sue), vegetables (made by Brenda), relish trays (deviled eggs made by me; arrangements made by Susan and Loren), mashed potatoes (made by Loren and me), gravy (made by the turkey and me), green bean casserole (made by Susan), pumpkin pie (made by me), pecan pie (supplied by Susan), berry cobbler (made by Loren). Hmmm . . . I think that’s everything. Oh, and a fire (made by Loren). We had five people for dinner and enough food to feed several armies. So lots of leftovers! Whee! It was a lovely Thanksgiving, with wonderful friends, wonderful food, great music (from Elvis’s How Great Thou Art record to the Chess soundtrack to the Truck Drivers’ Greatest Hits (by various artists) record (okay, I wouldn’t classify that as great so much as just kinda campy) to our own singing of Christmas carols around the piano). And because we started cooking early (Loren came at 8 a.m.), we were very relaxed and had a lovely day.
And then to end it so enchantedly . . . “I’ve been dreaming of a true love’s kiss. . . .” Sigh . . .
