We had our monthly SA FHE tonight (if you know what that means, you must be LDS!) and we talked about tithing. It was a good topic (they all are . . .) and for me the law of tithing is so completely tied to the blessings of the temple--I always think about the wonderful blessing we have of our temple. (I’ve never felt like a temple was “our” temple in the other places I’ve lived with a temple, but the Saint Paul temple feels like it somehow belongs to us.) Anyway, the promise that when we pay our tithing we won’t have room to receive the blessings we receive is literally true when you consider how difficult it is to make it to the temple on a regular and/or frequent basis. It’s all I can do to go twice a month. Imagine how much more could be done if we could make more room to receive the blessings of temple attendance! Somebody brought up the point that when we “rob” God we are really robbing him of the opportunity to bless us, both directly and indirectly. So much is tied to tithing! It really is a privilege to pay it.

I have a new nephew today, Dmitri Madison Price. I haven’t met him yet, but I understand he’s a very good baby (so far). Eva’s a wonderful girl but in some ways she’s too much like I was (am?) so I hope Dmitri is a little easier on his parents, ‘cause they’ll have more than their fair handful with her.
