How was your Groundhog Day? I checked the stats and noticed that Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow overwhelmingly more often than not, which I guess is to be expected. I see the same thing over and over every Groundhog Day myself--the movie, of course. This year there was a twist (sweet vermouth on the rocks with a twist, you might say) because I finally broke down and bought the DVD in the past year and so I watched it with the director’s commentary. I was not surprised to learn that many people of all religious and cultural-esque persuasions have the same sentiment about it that I do--that it is a universally appealing and uplifting movie for its lighthearted, and perhaps subtle, message. I used to gain new insight from it every year, but now I think I’ve seen it so many times it’s starting to get gelled. Oh well, it’s still good. I also discovered that the director was in love with Andie MacDowell. It’s funny because I noticed the same thing when I watched The Princess Bride with Rob Reiner’s commentary--he was in love with Robin Wright. I guess how could you not fall in love with someone like either of those ladies? Anyway.

I also watched President Hinckley’s funeral, which was very nice and I cried, especially at the end. I just love that song “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need”--and they did a video footage montage during the last couple of verses. That last part, “no more a stranger, nor a guest, but like a child at home,” already had significant meaning to me, as I’m sure it does to many people. Just pile on the emotion!

And I finally cleaned my room after tornado Jerica came through a month ago and cleared out some of her stuff and left much of it. I still need to move my vanity back but I can’t do it myself so I’ll have to wait until I can get some help--probably tomorrow at choir practice if I remember.

And I took down the Christmas decorations, but I deliberately left the mistletoe up. I have three days before Lent, and that baby needs to get used!

Did three loads of laundry too. Whee!
That’s Right, Woodchuck-chuckers, it’s . . .
