Julie’s Blog

Okay, I have been sufficiently chastised for failing to blog since Groundhog Day. Seriously, what is my problem? Actually, I think I have some kind of excuse . . . hang on, I’ll think of it. . . .

Meanwhile, here’s what’s been happening since then (in reverse order). I went to Twine Ball Days with Sue (see photo) on Saturday. She bought us matching shirts; aren’t we cute? Mom and Dad left on Friday. I was sad until about 15 minutes after they pulled away and then I remembered how much I enjoy living alone and cheered myself up all weekend by rearranging the kitchen. Thursday I went to the Mayo Clinic, where I was hoping they could do some Star Trek medicine to obliterate Trent, my 11 cm fibroid, but they said probably not. But they did offer to sugerize him out of there (and clean up all the rest of the endometrial mess, etc. too). So that’ll be nice. But I have to wait until Christmas because I’m starting school in the fall: a master’s program in Strategic Communication at the University of Minnesota. Whee! What fun! And Stephenie Meyer came out with two new books this year. There’s my excuse. I’ve been reading too much to blog! I met her at the Mall of America on the day they released The Host in May. And I got my picture in Entertainment Weekly (unfortunately I was cropped out of the online version, so you’ll have to buy the actual magazine if you want to see me) taking a picture of her. Wow! I’m not just famous, I’m IN-famous! Then I got interviewed for the Star Tribune and quoted at some considerable length when Breaking Dawn was released. And the article was on the front page! Whoo-hoo! Let’s see . . . what else? Oh, I went to a King’s Singers concert in Winona, which was tres awesome, as always. I never tire of hearing them live. What marvelous sounds! They keep getting better, I swear. Their last CD is absolutely breathtaking. And Jansen and I recorded my World Toilet Organization song, “Do You Know?” and I sent it to the WTO and they liked it but wanted me to make a video of myself singing it on a toilet and post it to YouTube. I said, “No, thank you.” So if you see someone singing my song on YouTube, it’s not me. And I do own copyright to both the recording and the composition, so tip me off and we’ll bust them together. ‘Cause you know that’s likely to happen. Let’s see, what else? I went to Texas and saw some old friends, and some young friends, and helped transcribe the United Methodist General Conference, which was educational and a little bit exhausting. Oh, and I went to Utah to visit Jerica and a few other people and had a great time. That was in June. And we had a family reunion (the Prices) in Nerstrand Big Woods, which was fun too. I got to sleep with Ethan in the new truck tent. And I missed the Memorial Day Whitney reunion because of my work schedule and other things (and thus the all-important debate about the merits of being a vampire vs. those of werewolf life, but for the record, I’d rather be a vampire--high five, Laurie!). I think that’s the main highlights for now. I hope you’re happy for the next six months or so!

I’m including my song (Do You Know_.mp3) so you’ll have time to learn it before World Toilet Day, which is November 19, of course!
